Political Correctness may kill you

Political Correctness (PC) almost killed the passengers on Delta Flight 253.  PC is so pervasive in the Department of Homeland Security now, Secretary Napolitano won’t even call terrorism, terrorism.  It’s new PC term is “man made disaster.”  Exactly who are we trying not to offend: the terrorists, future terrorists, nations that support terrorists?

Delta Flight 253

In the case of Flight 253, apparently we didn’t want to offend anyone.  The future terrorist of Flight 253 was turned in by his own father, a respected international  banker, as a danger to the USA.  But because he had not yet done an act of terrorism, no action was taken.  His visa was not pulled.

Then our terrorist decided to take a flight to the USA.  Apparently, the fact that he came from a country full of  terrorists currently in a civil war, fitting the profile of a terrorist, on a terrorist watch list, was not enough to get him a special screening.  You would have thought being on a terror watch list alone would be enough.  Especially after the warning, done in person by his father, to the U.S. Embassy.  No special screening was done.

It begs the question: if fitting the profile of a terrorist, coming from a nation full of terrorists, and being on a terrorist watch list, WITH a specific warning from a family member, does not get you a special screening, what does?

We are at war; just because some in this country don’t want it to be true doesn’t mean the Islamic terrorists will go away.  We know who our enemies are. Searching Granny is a joke.

Of course what you are saying is compelling and factual. This guy also got on after paying cash for his ticket, and no checked baggage. Security at some of these airports is a fraud.

From Maureen Dowd, no less. Comments on Barry.

Think about the billions spent. All that money; all that hassle. And this guy still got on with a bomb.

I think your initial comment about searching Granny is the key point. We should be profiling, at the very least, behavior. Plus…checking in with cash & no baggage…he shouldn’t even have gotten a boarding pass.

You’re right…all that money spent, billions, stupidly. There’s still people who can game the system. Unless we get to some kind of profiling, that will continue to happen, IMHO.

Agreed, unfortunately I think it will take another deadly attack before we get serious.
